A Few More Lincoln Thoughts…..

Terrible result and a desperate performance last night, appreciate last nights match review made pretty depressing reading? Imagine having write this shite?

Chris Maguire…..

He can be a matchwinner, that’s what he did last night, he’s also hugely inconsistent which means he’s had a career in League One. I’ve absolutely no issue with him milking it last night, he had a point to prove, we’re all grown men, fair play to him….. he came back and scored a hat trick to win the game….. we move on.

Pitch Imperfect…..

Our pitch was terrible last season, it’s been better last season. On Saturday we moved the ball better than I’ve seen for years, we play from the back, (not always well, but we stick to it), along with Bannan at Sheff Weds and Hoolihan at Cambridge, we have the best passer of a ball in this division in Alex Pritchard. Judging by the post match interviews, the watering of th pitch was a mistake? FFS…. A mistake is running out of Bovril, not flooding the pitch almost unplayable 90 minutes before kick off?

We all have our own Matchday routine, I’m fortunate to have a good vantage point and a facility that means I go in the ground early, the sight of an empty SOL under the lights is a thing of beauty and always the first glimpse I take on arrival. I could change the names but what’s the fucking point in that, here’s a brief summary of our conversation last night…..

  • 6.15pm…I pitch up first and can’t believe the sprinklers are on, there is standing water all over the pitch
  • 6.20pm…. Adam, “fuck me are they watering the pitch? It looks terrible”
  • 6.30pm ….. Mitch and an unnamed footballer…. “The pitch is fucking atrocious”
  • 6.40pm….. Simon, “how come the pitch looks so bad?”
  • 6.45pm…… Gary, “The pitch looks awful man”
No filters > no rain of note > 12 days……

We didn’t lose the game because of the pitch…. We lost due to individual errors, poor decision making and generally crap football.

Transfer Window….

I wrote the other day that we are short on what we need, last night compounded this. I’ve no issue with Diamond, O’Brien, Hume or Patterson, but if they are the squad depth, we need significantly more than we have got, 100%

Positives From Last Night?

I enjoy going to the game and enjoy the company etc, but that aside there wasn’t that many positives….. but there’s always, always some positives✅

  • Spice Hut, never ever fails
10/10 🌎🌎
  • It wasn’t as cold as I thought it would be ✅
  • Gooch is better when injured as he can’t run with the ball✅
  • Hardly any traffic after the game ✅

A Bad Few Days….

When Ross Stewart steered the ball home in the 93rd minute at Wycombe, life was good…. An equaliser was a kick in the animal crackers, but it was an ok point as Wycombe are decent and will take points off the top teams? We were hapless last night and deserved to lose, all of a sudden things don’t look not so good? We know better than most that games in hand don’t always translate to points? If we’d won last night and then we were to beat Wigan next month, they’d be 10 points behind with 5 games in hand…. I’d take that as our slight advantage? But we are now 4 points ahead and they have 5 games in hand.

Automatic….

Teams get promoted via the play offs…… we shouldn’t forget that, but sadly if we ain’t top 2 come what May…. Is there a SAFC in the land who thinks we win the play offs?

All Roads Lead To Accrington….

Like many others our first trip, (probably our last?), seemed a fun, novelty trip….. Sunderland had never played at Accrington…. On Saturday I’ll be making my 6th trip to watch us there, (albeit one being from a hill in a field for a behind closed doors game),

SAFCBlog Predicts…… match postponed…. Or ASFC 1 vs SAFC 1….. see you there ⚽️🔴⚪️⚽️
