A Bad Week…..
When Ross Stewart scored to put us 3-2 up in stoppage time last Saturday, things looked good, a week later and things are not so positive looking? Lots of us invest time, money and emotion in following Sunderland, that’s our choice, I don’t buy into the idea that players don’t care or don’t try etc. Although sometimes it is appropriate to be critical of them, Lee Johnson cited individual errors post match, normally when managers refer to this, they are making reference to something that has happened in isolation? The last 4 goals conceded have been the consequence of individual errors….. I’m sure that Flanaghan didn’t indend an air kick yesterday any more than Gooch did on Tuesday? But both incidents happened and both led to goals conceded.
Lee Johnson Post Match….
I feel for managers post match, football is an emotional game and within minutes of the game can be a tough time to answer, (often), stupid questions etc…. LJ opened last night with, “I feel for us, I feel for the players, I feel for the fans, being honest I feel for myself, generally it was very professional away performance…..”. No it wasn’t Lee, we created next to nowt, we had a man advantage and we conceded a breakaway goal from our corner, it was the type of goal a team chasing the game concedes? It was totally unforgivable, not to mention for the 2nd time in a week 2 players just ran towards the ball, leaving someone, (a fullback), completely unmarked

Dan Neil has a great future in the game, the Burnley interest didn’t really concern me. He’s the type of player that will improve if he’s with better players, now I’m not suggesting that Philippe Coutinho is any better than Lynden Gooch, but the Villa link has legs I’d reckon? He’s young, his value is miles away from its peak, he’s a Sunderland fan, we are a big club etc etc…. That’s all fair comment, be sadly we are in our 4th season in Division 3, if Villa make a tempting offer – he goes there, 100%, I don’t like the idea, but then I don’t like being stuck in this division.

Can we just crack on a fucking sign someone please? No doubt O’Briens cameo yesterday, (he made an impact), will mean we kid ourselves that we have strength in depth? Let’s just buy some players eh? No need to wait til the last minute and then moan we’ve missed out, just crack on?

They are fairly crap, although they tend to be a bit better against us, Match Preview in a few days, we really, really need this not to become a another streak, I might feel more optimistic after a few days, but at present, I don’t see us winning Saturday, I really don’t….
