Accrington Away Preview 13.08.19

We visit Accrington in the 1st round of the League Cup, SAFCBlog has previously stated to forget the cups this season, that said – morale wise it’s probably best to beat Accrington and then lose to someone average like Stoke or Forest in the next round? SAFCBlog should probably have something better to do on a Tuesday night …. but after a summer of watching cricket and then the experiment of women having a go at playing football, I’m actually quite looking forward to it.

We were there twice last season….

Sunshine, laughter, fun there’s enough for everyone…..
No roof required this time

When we finally got 90 minutes played, it was arguably the best we played in the second half of the season?

After the win there, we then won at Rochdale ….. I was convinced we were going up, (might even catch Luton??)….. that ended well?

Whilst we were holding Oxford 1-1, Accrington were losing 2-0 at Lincoln. Early days obviously and as previously stated, SAFCBlog has Lincoln as it’s darkhorse this season. We have a tough looking game at Ipswich on Saturday, Accrington were scheduled to host a Bury FC, but sadly that fixture won’t be played ~ with this in mind, I’d expect a full strength line up from them.

John Coleman, (slightly less scouse version of Paul Cook at Wigan), is in his 2nd spell as manager, I suspect they will be well up for this game? Hopefully if it’s a draw, it goes straight to penalties?

The internet is full of shite, (I know….), but before last season, we’d not played them since 1894!!

We were deadly in the 1890s

Difficult game to predict, as don’t really know the teams that will be fielded…… but… SAFCBlog predicts a 2-1 win for SAFC.
