Cheltenham Town Match Preview…..

We’ve only ever played Cheltenham once, back in the days when we used to occasionally play teams like Cheltenham in the League Cup….. we are now, (deservedly so for both parties), on a level playing field with them – at least for tomorrow we are, I’ve been to Whaddpn Road lots – and their pitch is far from level!

Current Form…..

We all know the going is good at SAFC, but what of Cheltenham? They had a few wins in the first few games, but they are already looking like a Busted Flush, hopefully I’m not patronising anyone concerned with the club, but I’m pretty sure they would be delighted to stay up this season? They beat a strong Oxford team, their other 2 wins were against Ipswich and Charlton, which are huge results for the club on paper, although in reality both Charlton and Ipswich are much shitter this season than anyone could have imagined?

We’ve won 5/5 at home, they’ve won 1/5 away, I’ll had a feeling that someone is going to get a hiding soon, I think it may well be tomorrow night? SAFCBlog Predicts …. SAFC 6 vs CTFC 0⚽️🔴⚪️⚫️

Thick and Fast….

The games keep coming, I can’t believe that it’s only 1 sleep, (depending on your sleep pattern), til we go again. The season is that frantic that I’ve barely had chance to comment on what LJ is wearing, whilst he remains loyal to his white soled, brown leather shoes, (just wear shoes or trainers Lee), although he’s been looking decent of late? He was smart on Saturday, I sit not that far from him and I’d wager he’s had his hair flashed, (full on Andrew Ridgely 1983 stylee)….

Not conclusive, but I definitely think he’s had some tin foil on his head?
More conclusive….
Proof – 100%

Team Selection….

Cirkin had one hell of a clash of heads yesterday, I didn’t realise that concussion subs had been introduced, ie an extra sub, but it’s obviously a sensible and positive change. I’m pretty sure Cirkin won’t be allowed to play tomorrow….

I’ve not, (to date), been a football scout, but if I was, on the basis of the last 20 minutes I’d be saying, that left back is tiny, target him….. Bolton were very direct and physical, but this expected change at LB worries me slightly.

Apart from this enforced change, I’d imagine a similar line up to Saturday, Embleton did nowt wrong – but I’d be tempted to replace him with Evans on the basis Evans does more of the graft and it will free Dan Neil up to tear Cheltenham apart with his Magic Boots. I’m not a fan of 1 up front, (just because I’m not), I couldn’t really work out Pritchard’s position on Saturday? O’Brien deserves a game, hes been good in the cup games and scored a load….. so Huggins > Cirkin looks likely, I’d like to see Evans > Embleton and O’Brien > Pritchard, but what do I know?

Are Cheltenham Any Good?

I haven’t got time to check, but I’m pretty sure they are not, I’ve never heard of any of their players or their gaffer, Michael Duff….

FUN FEATURE …. SAFCBlog Fun Facts….

I forgot that I started the said feature for the Fleetwood game, thankfully I’ve had a few emails reminding me….. Colin ‘Soft-Cheeks’ Greenwood of ‘The Cockwell Inn’, emailed in to say, “love the blog Bro…. What happened to the brilliant Fun Facts Feature?”. Well Colin, fear not……

Cheltenham…….Who Are Ya?

Cheltenham seems like quite a nice place, and has some famous folk who hail from the town…..

Chess Player, William Pollock

Chess – pointless, (just save time and have a game of Drafts?)

Olympic Failure, Eddie, (The Eagle), Edwards

Ryder Cup Failure, Paul Casey

Steve Cotterill

Legally Uncooperative Geoff Hurst, (not necessarily the opinion of SAFCBlog)
