Dundee United Away, Transfer Business and Happy Mondays SAFCBlog SPZL

Watching online today…… it’s like lockdown all over again

First Half……

Doesn’t look too much cooler than it was for the match on Wednesday? We control possession, we have a few chances, the through ball from Roberts to Stewart was sublime, I’m genuinely excited to see Roberts next season

Half Time, 0-0….

Second Half……

We controlled the game again….

  • A great save denies Dan Neil
  • The Keeper flaps at a cross, good header though…. 1-0
  • Absolutely fantastic own goal, must have been 55 yards out and the keeper had no chance, exactly what you love to see on any occasion at any level…. 2-0
  • Should probably score more, but a solid performance and a good win
  • Grounds for optimism, Stewart looks sharp, some good additions
Job done✅⚽️⚽️🔴⚪️⚫️👍

Jack Watch…..

Regular readers, (*), will know I’m a huge fan of The King of the Merino Knit 30° Softwash. I was intrigued to see what he wore today, as he seems to have lost his way since returning north of the border…..

Hibs Horrorshow….,,
Disaster in Dundee……

Sadly the cameraman didn’t once focus on Jack today, so the jury remains out.

Transfer Business……

We’re not done yet, Patterson has earned his chance to be first choice, although given departures we do need another keeper on board. Ross Stewart is brilliant, if he’d got injured in say March, we’d have been fucked, the situation remains that we need more firepower.

We really should have gone up under Ross, since then we’ve been average in an average league. We are now massively on the up…. think Clarke, Pritchard, Roberts…. then think Scowen, Leadbetter, Flanaghan….. rather than an ageing squad with zero asset value, we find ourselves with a core of players on long contracts and actually with an asset value.

Ballard is decent and proven at this level, the lad from West Ham is highly rated, (left footed centre halves are like rocking horse shite!)

Less Good News…..

Paul Ryder RIP 💔

I love music, a product of getting old is to bang on about the music from your formative years. The Happy Mondays weren’t the technically best of the plethora of the fantastic bands to emerge from Manchester at that time….. but they represented and epitomised everything about that scene. I’ve no idea how many times I saw them, the 1st was The Warehouse in Leeds, thereafter absolutely loads of times, small venues, (Boardwalk Hacienda etc), big venues, (Gmex, Whitley Bay Ice Rink, Elland Road). We all have our time, this was mine….. Hacienda > M62 Sevices > to the field…..
