Another pre season game today, whilst pre season isn’t particularly exciting, it’s a chance to go to a game after a while – this season more than ever this feels very welcome. In recent years pre season has taken me to Germany, Scotland, Portugal and South Shields; I can’t make the Hull game next Friday, but will go to Tranmere on Tuesday night, all of this is my choice, (and arguably a strange choice), today is an exciting day…. Today we play at Harrogate…..
Eagle eyed readers will know I live in Harrogate, a home game for me is 180 miles round trip, to be fair 99% of away games are a shorter trip for me than those in the NE….. but today The Red and White Wizards are playing literally down the road. 🔴⚪️⚫️⚽️
EMBARRASSMENT…..
Harrogate Town didn’t start selling tickets til Wednesday night for this game, like many others I bought mine, it’s a local game for me, but loads booked trains, minibuses, hotels etc as you’d expect. At 6.40pm ast night it was announced it was to be behind closed doors. The assumption was Covid had dictated, that’s bollocks – the town has hosted a food festival for 20’000 people and a farming show for 104’000 in the last few weeks – they just didn’t fancy a few thousand of Sunderland’s finest in town? Proper tinpot, will they do the same when they play Bradford, Oldham, Tranmere etc?
There’s a load of police in town today, and I’m sure before you could say “charge sheet, dispersal Oder, section 27…..”, they’d be delighted to be of assistance?

Very comfortable first half, Harrogate are absolutely shite. It’s just a friendly obviously, but it’s a proper workout and a 3-0 half time lead is hugely positive⚽️⚽️⚽️
2nd Half….
Harrogate still very, very crap, couple of chances for Rod Stewart, we should beat these non league jobbers 5 or 6 nil?

Decent workout, I’m not the biggest fan of LJ, but I like the idea of not changing the whole team at half time.
In 2 weeks time we embark on a 60+ game season, I like the idea of not over protecting the players
