This afternoon we played our 3rd and final pre season game. A late Will Grigg strike made it 3 straight wins.
The Match…..
Had to go to Otley so missed the 1st half, home at 4pm to watch the 2nd half. I enjoy watching football, a large part of the appeal is the excitement and the unpredictability – conversely some games are not very good. The 2nd half was a pretty turgid watch.
So, a shit game then?
Yep that just about covers it, that said SAFCBlog always strives to find something interesting to say…..
SOME POSITIVE STUFF…..(I’ll assume the 1st half wasn’t very good either?)
- Our defence is decent enough, Wright is a great addition
- Dan Neil looks a decent player
- Grigg took his goal well
- New seats look nice, imagine watching a behind closed doors game with the old pink seats?
- Burge is decent enough
SOME LESS POSITIVE STUFF…..
- We look light up front? But then that’s what a spend of £0 adds to your attacking options?
- It seems an unpopular opinion, but I’m just not convinced by Power, he’s been here a while now and hasn’t established himself. He loves to wrap his foot around the ball without taking a touch – you need to be very, very good to distribute the ball in that manner. Hopefully Dobson can come to the fore this season?
SOME STUFF ABOUT HARROGATE TOWN…..
- Getting out of the Conference is harder than staying in Division 4. They will be fine, you’d have to think anything odds against on them to win at Southend on the opening day is cracking value?
- When I was at school, if you forgot your PE kit you had to play in your pants. Whilst there was no fans allowed, I’d guess playing at the SOL is quite exciting for Harrogate? Surely the lazy bastards could have put some numbers on their shirts? 106 years in non league …. you reach the league…. and you pitch up at the home of football inappropriately dressed for the occasion…… fucking shambolic tinpottery.
