We don’t have a manager, just as after Parkinson was sacked a whole week has passed without an appointment, a further similarity was we were hosting bottom of the league – not for the first time, I suspect today was earmarked as a gimme?
Team Selection….
Last week we lost 6-0 to 15th in the league in arguably the worst performance in living memory…. today 10 of last weeks 11 started the game? Flanaghan departed, we started with Winchester as part of a back 3? Gooch started ahead of the new bloke from Fleetwood? A bizarre selection!
The Players…..
It was time for LJ to go, but the players threw him under the bus last week with a gutless, heartless performance…. if they wanted him gone they’d got their wish. surely they’d be better today? They were absolutely dreadful, Embleton and Neil were woeful, the German keeper was dreadful, overall another hapless performance.
The Game….
We were ok for 15 minutes, the remainder of the 1st half was dreadful, we were completely overrun in midfield, Donny really should have been out of sight at half time having hit the post and missed from 2 yards. We hit the post in the 2nd half, scored a soft goal and Stewart’s header looked over the line….. but lets not kid ourselves, a team 11 points adrift at the bottom of the league deservedly beat us today
Doncaster Rovers…..
I went to see them on Tuesday, they lost 5-0, they offered nothing, Rotherham didn’t break sweat, we weren’t at the races today, but….. well done to Doncaster, they came as the proverbial lambs to the slaughter, the 2 centre halves were superb, number 10 was the best player on the pitch. of course they are going to waste time, but some of the blocks / bodies on the line were superb, and this endeavour is something we seem to lack in a big way?
Theres so much more that could be said about today, but it all comes wrong to the same end point, we were shite and deservedly lost to bottom of the league at home, dreadful….. Rudderless
