SAFC 2 vs Burnley 4, a very, very brief review…(**)

Well that was shite?

Game of 2 halves….

Real cliche…. but for what seems like the 5th game in row, it was exactly that? The 1st half was beautiful…. it then went seriously downhill…. the 2nd half was at best catastrophic?

1st half…..

We pressed well, we controlled the game, we scored 2 quality goals⚽️⚽️

2nd half….

They were never going to be as bad? They absolutely fucking smashed us⚽️⚽️⚽️⚽️

1st and 2nd goals were crap defending, 3rd goal was very good, 4th goal was crap defending. The 4th goal came from us fucking about trying to play it out from the back, realistically playing it out from the back is often flawed at this level, but then without an attacking outlet, how else can we play?

(**)Edit, not such a brief review after all, tired last night and fell asleep, can’t be arsed starting again, (SAFCBlog Real Time Blogging Solutions ⚽️)

Overall….

Burnley have only lost once this season, they will probably get promoted? SAFCBlog is built on positivity, that said it was impossible not to feel completely deflated at full time, and the euphoria of the 1st half seemed like a distant memory, but we need to remember that we smashed them first half? I’m still optimistic, there’s obviously a few changes required and it doesn’t happen overnight, but we’ll be fine, I genuinely believe that we will⚽️

Strikers….

We don’t play with a striker? They were able to bring on Jay Rodrigez and give Ashley Barnes an hour of game time….. Goals will always be the key to winning games, not having a striker will always be a restrictive factor on a teams ability to score these goals? Ross Stewart getting injured in the warm up at Boro feels depressingly similar to when then that short armed prick sold Josh Maja to clear the Khazri debt and the got held to ransom buying that lazy bastard Will Grigg

Will Grigg, (right), shit and lazy

Injuries are both unfortunate and inevitable, it’s not uncommon for a squad to be injury ravaged, although an injury to one striker and to one loanee shouldn’t constitute an injury crisis? To not have alternative striking options in a Championship squad is incompetent, inexcusable and irresponsible.

This league is mad, the teams at the top have all won narrow games, whilst hypothetical if we had Ross Stewart….. we may have won the 0-0s vs Preston and Blackpool, we wouldn’t be giving the ball away so much due to having no outlet and being forced always to play from the back, Pritchard wouldn’t be so deep and getting tired so quickly, Bennette would have been cut loose to feed the front men, we’d have more points and be higher up the table?….. we don’t know this for sure, but to not be able to know is horrendously poor in terms of recruitment and squad management. We spent last season saying, if Stewart gets injured we’re fucked…. we weren’t wrong.

20 Points

It was always going to be a challenge managing expectations this season, realistically mid table will be a good return, (let’s never ever forget the abject misery of the previous 4 seasons). 20 points is probably about level par after 16 games, we have 4 games before football turns its attention to sports washing, murder, oppression and homophobia, the target has to be 2 wins, (26 points), to take into this break.

Referee

Much maligned of late, to be fair the ref was fairly decent yesterday, if anything he was a little harsh on Burnley 1st half. It was hugely refreshing to see him book their number 5 after 2 minutes, it was a clear yellow card – but more often than not referees don’t have the bottle to show a yellow so early in the game, setting this precedent of control probably made the next 88 minutes easier for him, credit where it’s due.

North Stand Netting

Burnley brought loads of fans, regardless of the club involved 3’500 fans, (plenty fuelled by beer and coke), will mean there’s a fair few who will behave like dicks, stuff chucked from above is never going to end well and it’s only a matter of time til it ends very badly, it’s a sad indictment but i’m actually surprised it doesn’t happen more open. Just put some fucking netting up, it’s that simple.

That’ll stop them?
Just put some netting up? It’s that simple.

The fairer sex….

I love football, the football I love is played by men, I’m a relatively modern man I’d say? I couldn’t be prouder to have 2 lovely daughters, both of whom I hope find the world to be their oyster, I’d go do far to say, (whilst retaining a cool persona), some women are just lovely. I’ve no issue with anyone doing anything they choose, but FFS – this will never not annoy me…..

2 big games in The Championship today, both were sell outs, (circa 22’000 & 21’000), I’m playing golf in the morning, I wonder if SKY will be there to film it rather than covering the DP European Tour?

SAFCBlog photography update

Whilst this blog is primarily a literary masterclass, (*), pictures are a key part of it, no photographer on duty yesterday, so I decided to do the photos myself. I got distracted and completely forgot pre match and my phone battery was dying 2nd half, not a vintage crop today

Sit down you big clumsy fucker”
GOAL⚽️💥⚽️💥…..Must do better at Luton, (I will)

Perhaps the Guest Blogger can bail me out?

FFS, one job? If only the media whore spent as much time on his blog responsibilities as he does on doing his hair and choosing what to wear?

Fear not, new SAFCBlog photographer Danny Slazenger will save the day? He’s at a match in London, so should have a bumper crop, nowhere better than London to capture some high quality images,Shirley Danny?

Not a vintage day of photography? Will be much, much better at Luton.

Long week

No midweek game, Luton preview at some stage obviously and I’m sure I’ll think of something to write. As if the 2nd half wasn’t bad enough, it took me fucking ages to get home, but can’t do anything about that – just focused on the positivity of the 1st half of the day rather than the 2nd half, onwards and upwards⚽️💥
