SAFC…… living for the weekend

SAFC living for the weekend

Never look back……

I never really fancied us at Portsmouth, they are on fire, we were knackered – a draw would have been great, but we regroup and move on. It’s all about bouncebackability……

Those Ipswich boys must be feeling like they’ve been invited to the international hide and seek finals in Prai Du Luz?.

A week is a long time in………

…… if you’re at work a week seems like a long time, if you’re on holiday it seems like fuck all, if your waiting for SAFC vs Ipswich at 3pm on Saturday…. it feels like an eternity?

why A week off is a good thing?

Since Parkinson arrived it feels like we’ve barely had a break? We had cup games galore, midweek games, Christmas schedule….. I accept that’s life in a tinpot 46 game league? But….. a full weeks preparation is a good thing. Parky must feel like he’s barely had the boys on the training ground? The overwhelming evidence is that we are training well. For the 1st time since Big Sam, it feels like the hours on the training ground are enhancing the 90 minutes….

  • Our free kicks are better?
  • We no longer look knackered after 65 minutes?
  • We are operating a high press to positive effect at the SOL?
  • We are no longer completely shit at taking corners?
  • We will be ready to go come 3pm Saturday?

SAFC Blog is yet to be invited the the Academy of Light to watch a training session…. but I just trust these boys to get it right!

how Should SAFC line up on Saturday?

First and foremost, we looked tired on Saturday. SAFC Blog loves Charlie Wyke….

“Last Big Issue…..”

Charlie has played a load of football in the last 6 weeks, he seems to get kicked a lot. He was my Man of the Match at Tranmere – I just think he could do with a rest? Ditto The King – been class, but looking a bit leggy. Not having these 2 in the starting line up also means we have real hunger and quality on the bench?

Hopefully we won’t be relying on substitutes to change the game – but such a strong bench gives us options other than Grigg coming on for a wander around like a pensioner looking for some plants in B&Q or Watmore coming on to run in straight lines and see how far the ball can bounce off his shins?
