International Break….
Over the last 4 years International Breaks have been a headache to us, we’ve not done well with games in hand, whilst it would be great to be bumbling around Sheffield for opening time today, on this occasion the postponement is 100% the right decision – a Tuesday at Wednesday is a good way to fill a midweek evening.
England were good the other night, the headlines are about the abhorrent behaviour from the Home Crowd, amazing in this day and age – but a full house of 67’000 on the back of 2 games behind closed doors – sadly the events were so depressingly predictable…..
Governing Bodies in Football…..
No huge surprise that FIFA / UEFA don’t give a shit? Football is the World Game, but the World Cup in Quatar? I’m all for spreading the tournament globally, whilst I don’t like to do politics on here, how the heck can the event be taken to a country with such Human Rights and corruption issues? Whilst the EFL can’t be labelled with crimes of such magnitude, they aren’t much better, football is often cited as The Peoples Game….realistically the people make football what it is, but I’m not really sure the governing forces of the game really give a shit about the people?
CASE STUDY A…..
When we played at Fleetwood on New Years Day under Parkinson, after they were gifted an 8th minute lead by the incompetence of the ref, the ball boys were clearly under instructions from Barton to not retrieve the ball and I’d go so far as say, delay the return of the ball…..
I wrote to EFL about the debacle of Points Per Game, in 2019/20, realistically the EFL had 2 viable options;
- Scrap the league
- Finish the league
The option taken of be weak as piss and just fudge it and let clubs vote, turkeys and Christmas etc…. Still not heard from the EFL
CASE STUDY 3……
Don’t know how I find the time, but I’m still awaiting a reply from the EFL with regard to my letter of 6th October 2019 about the Stewarding at Lincoln City, (case ongoing)
Will-I-Am, (weak as piss)
We are on an upward curve, I can’t imagine anyone feels we don’t deserve this? It’s not like we haven’t been through the mill, Dave at TakePayments said he wanted us back in the Premiership when I spoke to him earlier to activate a new payment terminal – Dave doesn’t need to say this, but he did, Dave Knows….
Loan System…..
We’ve lent Grigg to Rotherham, realistically we ain’t having him back…. Think someone saying can I borrow a tea bag vs can I borrow your leaf blower? I’m obviously not in a position to speak on behalf of SAFC, but just fucking keep him Rotherham👍 As the parent club the norm is that he can’t play against us? Or at least without permission, given the EFL don’t reply to sensible communication, I’ve done the paperwork…..
Depressed Mode…..
Today we were obviously due to play Sheffield Wednesday, the game is off…. Given we had 19 months of no Footie, (and an imminent winter of matchgoing discontent approaching), it shouldn’t matter? But it does matter, the routine has been resurrected ⚽️ Today I’m booking train tickets for Gillingham, that’s not sane behaviour…. But football is the drug….
I’ve watched a lot of football matches I was lucky my dad took me to a lot of games all over the place from a young age…. Bizarrely my first ever game was at Hilsborough 42 years ago,, I was 8 …. Aside from the excitement my overriding memory is there wasn’t a commentary …. At that time there was no live Footie on TV, it was just radio commentary – I was baffled that the tannoy in the stadium didn’t offer a running commentary, (that said 8 years later I had 4 O’Levels….). Bizarrely it turned out to be quite an iconic game, the overhead pitch invasion footage was used by ITV for the opening credits to The Big Match for Yeats after.
Going Nowhere….
Gutted to have nowt to do today, when we eventually play SWFC I might relay my first match experience to the locals…… they gained promotion that day, so it is a potentially iconic game?
