Deadline Day

It’s the last day of signing players for a while, historically it’s been a nothing day for us, this year is different….

Then…..

Signing anyone with a pulse ❌

Ellis Short had money, serious money – he backed lots of managers, (intent better than his judgement perhaps?). Then we had Donald and Methven, who were a complete pair of shysters, full of shit and not a pot, (of their own), to piss in. They were backed militantly by large sections of the fanbase, they aren’t exactly popular now – but fucking hell they got off lightly – these pair of parasites could have taken us to the brink, the bare bones of our arses brink…. They took a punt, it didn’t come off, (*none of this is necessarily the opinion of SAFCBlog).

Will-I-Am, (absolutely shite)

Looks like Grigg is off, he’s scored goals everywhere but here, sometimes a pairing just doesn’t match?

When we signed Will Grigg, most agreed,(price aside), he was a good signing…. He wasn’t

It didn’t work out here for Grigg, contrary to popular belief he had a lot of chances to impress, 3 managers who all gave him a chance, his career stats suggest he is good at football, he was utter shite here. Ultimately Football is real life, not settling in the area, an unhappy missus etc are legitimate factors – my instinct is to always wish players well, the lack of desire, effort, his comments, his demeanour make this hard to do, just shut the door on your way out Will.

Recruitment

Getting players is easy, getting the right players is less easy…..
Whilst this will be our last ever season in Division 3, we are in Division 3, we are on the verge of signing 2 highly rated players from Bayern Munich, that’s nothing short of incredible. KLD and Speakman have got this, we are seeing hungry, talented players coming to us for the right reasons – obviously it’s a 2 way process as we have the infrastructure and facilities to reassure their parent clubs. This year is different, very different – we will win this division, (and win it easily), 100% ⚽️🔴⚪️⚫️

Outs…..

  • Grigg to Doncaster on a 3 year deal, (We May never ever be able to thank you enough Rovers)
  • Diamond back on loan to Harrogate, this is probably a good move all round – he’s not good enough for us at the moment, he will play every week at Town and did well last time. Harrogate is quite a nice place to live too
