For the 2nd weekend in a row, we face a tricky looking away fixture. Last season we won 2-0 at their gaff, as you’d expect the game at the SOL ended 1-1. To be fair they looked half decent in both games, in my predictions article, I said they’d finish 9th: so far they have won 4, drawn 5, lost 3. Tough game beckons, but as always I’m hugely confident we will come home with the 3 points.
Shrewsbury is a right bastard to get to, added to this, their new ground is miles out of town! Similar to Chester and Hereford, they don’t seem to be able to decide if they are Welsh or English? (I know which I’d choose!). The town itself, (like Sunderland), is architecturally impressive…..

(A bit fancy????)

(functional)

So a tight game in store and nothing to choose between the aesthetics of the places, (we are a city compared to them being a town). Shrewsbury attracts shed loads of visitors to its Abbey, Castle, Mansion etc….. but as is often the case, Sunderland just shades it due to the wonderful Roker Pier…

The Shrews are managed by Sam Ricketts, I’m not sure who their players to watch are, but they’re bound to have someone who will cause us all manner of problems? Honours wise, they’ve won Division 4 a couple of times and the Welsh Cup loads of times…. bonkers?????
There’s a few notable people from the town….
CLEVER MAN…… CHARLES DARWIN

MAG-SLAYER STEVEN FLETCHER….

GEOFFREY HORNBLOWER COCK, awarded the Military Cross….

T’PAU VOCALIST CAROL DECKER….
No picture sadly. SAFCBlog is still finalising it’s 2020 SAFCBlog OFFICIAL CALENDAR, but it’s a NO at this stage Carol.
As is often the case, nice towns attract people to study and live there. Shrewsbury is no different, there’s no bands from the town, but loads of great folk chose to make it their home.
JOHN PEEL…..

PERCY THROWER…..
Anyone who grew up with 3, (yes three), TV channels, will have watched Blue Peter. Whilst John Knoakes telling us Shep was dead, and the introduction of Joey Deakin, pulled on out heartstrings, nothing could prepare adolescent minds for the utter bombshell……THE BLUE PETER GARDEN HAD BEEN VANDALISED!!!

IAN HUNTER OF SAFCBlog FAVOURITES MOTT THE HOOPLE….. lived in the town…..
Whilst Shrewsbury will be right up for the game, SAFCBlog predicts a repeat of last seasons 2-0 win for the lads. We’ll need to be on our game, like most teams we face, this is their Cup Final.

IN PHIL WE TRUST
Poor result today… but we have the right man to take us forward, it will be a long journey…..
In no time at all it’ll start getting better….
