Sunderland 1 ipswich 0…. the last word

Sunderland 1 Ipswich 0

Sunderland 1 Ipswich 0…. The last word

Great win against Ipswich yesterday, there’s less than 2 days til we play again – I love football.

The 1st half was tight yesterday, the 2nd half was fantastic. It’s easy to forget that prior to the last few months, we’d probably been entertained at the SOL about 6 times over a 3 year period? 3 of the last 4 games have been brilliant…. I wrote last year that we were in danger of losing a generation of fans? I sit next to someone who’s formative years were the Keane years…..it wasn’t if we’d win, it was by how many! It’s been mostly shite for years, a few months doesn’t mean we are fixed – but for the first time in ages, the shoots of recovery are vibrant.

SAFC Blog doesn’t always offer a detailed match report of the 90 minutes….. but since yesterday, I’ve had a few more thoughts…. Having watched the 94 minutes again, (I probably need to get out more?), the intensity we showed was relentless. The moment that summed this up for me was the 20 seconds leading up to the goal. Dobson wins a header and makes a run to the left of Wyke that frees up the king to score – this just didn’t happen earlier in the season. It’s also gone under the radar, but all of a sudden our defence is not conceding, we’ve had more clean sheets than the Schofield marital home since the turn of the decade.

Big game against Rochdale Tuesday

Big game Tuesday – we go again. We should beat Rochdale, but we will have to be on our game.

Highlights of yesterday, courtesy of the genius that is SunderLad – I’m not mad for the internet, but follow him on YouTube and I promise you will smile more moving forward…..
