The 4 games of Christmas
The festive period is always a key time, 4 games in 10 days – momentum is huge in sport, bizarrely by the time we kick off against Bolton on Boxing Day we will only have played 4 league games in 53 days!
It’s no secret we are struggling a bit, a large section of our fanbase have decided Parkinson is not the man; for me this is bonkers after 8 games? We played pretty well against Blackpool – it’s no secret that SAFCBlog thinks the issues run deeper than the manager. I’m actually fully behind Parkinson; he refused to have the piss taken out of him by McGeady. I don’t know, (but I definitely think), there are major issues within the dressing room? Whilst the Twitterati who called for Ross to go, now call for PP to go – and seem desperate for Super Kev to get the job…… I’m of the mind Kev certainly wouldn’t have called McGeady out, and if the, (albeit rumours), dressing room and fitness is as bad as it seems, I reckon he’d have been eaten alive? Four quick fire games is massive, it’s a game of opinions, but I think we will beat Bolton and surely the best thing for all is to head into the other games in a positive mindset. Opinions will always vary, but I’m unable to see the benefit of journalists paid to report on the club, tweeting that we have slipped further down the league to our lowest ever league position, (not constructive but fair comment …. but not when we’ve not actually been playing!?).
Anyone who follows this blog will know I’ve never believed in our current owners – I certainly take no pleasure in the fact this might be coming to fruition. Regardless of differing opinions, the following seems a reasonable assessment of where we are perceived to be at……..
- They loved the adulation?
- The gambled on promotion? Sometimes when you gamble you lose, hence the widely accepted opinion, only bet what you can afford to lose?
- CM has jumped ship?
- SD not coming to games is not a good situation?
- The honeymoon is well and truly over?
- Slightly more opinionated, but they’ve been found out?
So ‘4 games of Christmas’ over ten days….. what happens? The Bolton preview is already online and obviously SAFCBlog will preview and review every match as always, but in short….
Bolton at Home – win 2-0
Doncaster Away – win 1-0
Fleetwood Away – lose 1-2
Lincoln at Home – win 2-0
Obviously I’d love to win every game, but it isn’t going to happen, as we all know it’s draws that really kill you? Whichever way you look at it, we need a lift, a boost, some positivity. None of us really know what’s going to happen in these 4 games, but the fact that so many have written the management and the season off is not something I agree with.
Last post before Christmas. Brilliant time of year in so many ways, especially for kids, but…… also a really hard time of year for so many – if you can do something good for someone, do it, it’ll do them and you good.
SAFCBlog will be back with a match review on Boxing Day night.
Happy Christmas – let’s hope its a really good one.
