Similar situation to yesterday in that we are playing a team we haven’t played for ages. We last met in March 2005, when a goal from Stephen Elliot secured a 1-0 win
The Crewe gaffer that day was Dario Gradi, who remarkably was in his 22nd year of his first spell as their boss! Over the years the Crewe Academy was a conveyor belt of talent, loads of players started there and went on to play in the Premier League…. David Platt, Ashley Westwood, Dean Ashton, Danny Murphy, Neil Lennon, Mag Slayer Billy Jones, Mag Slayer extraordinaire David Vaughan

Crewe Alexandra FC
They got promoted last year and have made an ok start. They drew with Blackpool yesterday, not sure whether that’s a good result or not, as the recruitment at Blackpool suggests they should be decent – but they seem to be not very good? Anyway, very early days and 1 game at a time etc.
Their goal yesterday was scored by Mandaron yesterday, last time he was at the SOL, he bagged a brace including a 96th minute equaliser that ended up really costing. That was 7 months ago, and was my most recent visit to the SOL! What a mental year it’s been?

On the back of my correct prediction of 2-0 vs Swindon, SAFCBlog predicts….. 4-1 win for the Red and White Wizards of Wonderland. Pretty straight forward evening, 3-0 at half time and a brace for Charlie.

The town of Crewe…..
Alex are nicknamed the railwaymen, which is slightly ironic as it’s a fucking nightmare to get to by train, got to change at Leeds and Manchester to get there. Although it would be nice to have such problems to mull over.

Who’s Who of Crewe?
Ex page 3 model and actress Amy Diamond is from Crewe

2 more sleeps……
I’d absolutely love to going to the game on Tuesday, we’ve started well, a night under the lights at the SOL then Pompey on Saturday- I’d love, absolutely love it. Sadly I’ll be watching online – but I’ll be there in spirit you beautiful red and white bastards
Hey you, Let’s Dance…….. like it’s 1982
