Up Next – Fleetwood Town

Fleetwood are our next opponents, it’s almost a year since the last game under the lights at SOL, when Fleetwood were also the visitors. A Max Power goal in the 97th minute earned us a point, it’s bonkers really to think how much we took such evenings for granted almost a year ago?

SAFC vs FTFC – A night under the lights, better than we realised at the time.

Our record against Fleetwood is terrible, I can’t be bothered to check, but I can’t imagine there’s anyone else who we’ve played on 6 occasions since we chose to play in Division 3, who we’ve not managed to beat? Whilst the Pizza Cup defeat was irrelevant, our league record of D,L,D,D,D is poor.

A Zonal Results Scientific Analysis of our meetings…..application is in the post Louis👍

“Gone for a Barton….”

Thankfully Joey Barton is no longer their gaffer, I say thankfully because I really rate him as a manager. Attention will always be drawn to his, (self appointed), Pantomime Villain status, but the job he did at Fleetwood was remarkable. Yes he has a fuse sticking out of his arse, yes he’s a wind up merchant….. but I’ve never seen a fitter team than Fleetwood, the collection of players he had consistently performed well above their natural level. He’s on the verge of being appointed as the gaffer at Bristol Rovers, their squad has more quality than Fleetwood, I think he will do a decent job, they are too far away to challenge this season, but I’d expect them to be top 6 next season.

Odds courtesy of SkyBet….. it’s been a bad few weeks for British boxing with Warrington and Kelly losing, but it’s hard to argue with Joey being odds on?

Whilst Barton’s biggest game is probably Sheffield Crown Court, (Away), in June, our game down there in March is bang in the middle of a 7 game spell that will almost certainly define our season….

We should know after these 7 games how our season is going to end up?

Are Fleetwood Any Good?

They weren’t very good in our game there, the 1-1 draw left the two teams level on points, that was at the end of November, we’re now 11 points ahead of them, so they’ve got worse. In our last few meetings Ched Evans has been their best player, he was surplus to requirements and went to play in the Championship. Surely this is the time to finally beat these Shite Seaside Lower League Jobbers?

It feels as if we are gaining a bit of momentum, I’m not sure that we are particularly settled at the back, but all of a sudden the goals seem to be coming from everywhere….. Gooch was a real threat on Saturday, O’Brien is playing well, Wyke is on fire etc. SAFCBlog Predicts …. SAFC 2 vs FTFC 0
