Up Next ….. Win Done vs Swindon? SAFCBlog Shit Headline Writer’s Tuesday Club

Tough gig, (all relative), this blogging malarkey – we play every few days, it’s akin to a 2nd job? The Pizza Cup Final will mark 2 years since I started writing this shite, as always… don’t email, don’t feel the need to share, don’t retweet, to be honest there’s enough pictures to not even bother reading, I’m not sure I’d read the blog? (I rarely even bother to proof read it). Maybe I would read it in Lockdown? But once the pubs are open I’ll be straight down to The Cockwell Inn to get completely Judy Finniganed.

SAFCBlog Day 1…..

Swap 72 cans of Coke, (short dated) for 7 Monster Leeks, (which sadly turned out to be even shorter dated)

SAFCBlog Day 717…. No measurable improvement in content

….irrelevant, 6/10, shite, tiresome, not funny, a spent force, boring, bang average, not worth reading, too PC, piss poor, like an Air BnB weekend at Josep Fritzels gaff, getting worse, crap, worse than SAFCTV etc……call SAFCBlog what you will, today I met a man in a car park in Wetherby for a socially distanced coffee and to chat shite. Whilst said man is a complete fucking idiot… he is a season ticket holder at SAFC and goes to most of the away games. It’s been a strange season, but I quote…..”shit, I didn’t know we were playing tonight….. you haven’t done a preview blog!” And that Ladies and Gentlemen is the power of Shite Blogging…..

Give the people what they want!” Fuck it – 1 more year then I’ll pack it in, I promise.

10 Points From 12…

… is a good return, arguably having taken 9 points from 3 games, it was slightly disappointing to to not make it 12 points, although having been a few seconds away from deservedly losing on Saturday, 10 from 12 looks very good? Two great goals too, a fantastic header from Wyke teeing up Maguire to smash home an Absolute ThunderBastard of an equaliser.

Le Force Maguire……Arise
King Chris, (I), of Wonderland

Crewe were a bit unlucky, although if you score two goals of the quality that we did, you probably deserve a point. Crewe were much better on Saturday than they were at the SOL in October, I’m delighted we got a point though, especially given the ridiculous interview given by their manager after the game, just completely irrelevant shite. It reminded me of waiting in for a Sky Engineer, then he turns up sucking air through his teeth and telling me it’s an awkward job – it’s of absolutely no interest to me pal, just get my TV working, there’s no discussion that needs to be had.

“Mmmmm…… ahhhh….. difficult….. the wires have been configured the wrong way you see and the dish is offset to the wrong angle…… I’ll see what I can do…… hmmmmm…. not ideal this…….have you got the paperwork from 10 years before you moved here…… mmmmmm”

Real Fan Rangers 0 vs Armchair Academicals 1, (Field, C 28)

I’m watching more football on TV than ever, there’s lots of reasons for this, not going to football, nowt else to do, it’s on every day, I’m actually quite looking forward to watching less. The Premiership is a decent product, but I’m not really arsed about it, obviously I always want Leeds and Newcastle to lose and enjoy the underdogs winning, I like watching the mentalist that is Roy Keane making Raul Moat look like Alan Carr, but I’m not really bothered about the product as a whole. It’s also really, really pissing me off the amount of praise that is being heaped on David Moyes, I don’t think anyone expected West Ham to be top half never mind top 4, I’m a great believer in teams getting what they deserve over a season, they are doing fantastically well and they are managed by David Moyes….

It’s of not relevance to us now and without going all Crewe Gaffer, West Ham doing well doesn’t detract from his time here. He took on a team of Premiership quality from Sam, he shunned players of quality because they weren’t cross country champions, he shamefully declared after 2 games and on the eve of playing Boro, that we were in a Relegation Battle. Admittedly Short had lost his mojo when Sam went, but Moyes took a established Premiership club, took a wage and showed no desire, didn’t engage with the fanbase, signed anyone over 34 who’d played for Everton – if you don’t want a job, don’t take it. There are absolutely zero redeeming factors regarding his tenure here – we sleepwalked to relegation without so much of a whimper. The following season was even worse but I actually don’t have any animosity to Grayson or Coleman, the damage was done and to be honest Grayson was just pleased to be given a Club Tracksuit and Cookie Coleman makes a Whale Omelette look aqueous. Game of opinions as always…

What About The Swindon Match You Irrelevant Blog Knobber?”

“Errr, the FA are on the phone lads……”

They are one of the poorer teams in the division, they were rubbish at their gaff and they are in a relegation battle. Although there are 6 teams below them, it’s tight and Burton are on a roll and Bristol Rovers won’t go down, so they’ve got lots to play for. I can’t imagine they will come here all guns blazing, but that’s fine, it’s up to us to use our quality to break teams down. Given it’s 3 points for a win regardless of who you win against, it’s not a must win game, but you’d have to think that it’s the kind of game you need to win. This game and Rochdale on Saturday are huge in terms of momentum, we have some really tough games on the horizon, Peterborough Away and Blackpool twice the space of a few weeks will be huge.

It’s getting tighter by the week at the top of the league, the benefit of beating Swindon and Rochdale will be we can then go into the away games at Hull and Portsmouth just needing to avoid defeat. A year ago today we went to Coventry, (well Birmingham), needing to win because we’d failed to beat Fleetwood at home. Lincoln look a busted flush to me, the only way they are going up is if the EFL give them a Wycombe Pass, hard to tell what will happen to Doncaster now that Darren is no Moore? It didn’t affect Luton a few years back, time will tell I guess, Sheff Weds are a huge club, but it’s a huge job – they have been chaotic for years, the Boardroom unrest there makes Windsor / Winfrey look like a settled relationship…..

Hat 1 vs Chat 0, (Round 1 KO)..“Yeah….Whatever you American Gobshite…. bring your mates…. bring your fucking lunch….. no one fucks with me more than once”
You tell Ophra, I’ve got her right where I want her….. now get in the car and fuck off whilst you can still walk”

I digress….. Doncaster might be ok, Lincoln won’t….

“Lincoln?…… Stick a fork in their ass – they’re done”

SAFCBlog Predicts….. SAFC 4 v STFC 1

All pretty self explanatory

Predicts makes it sound like I’m guessing? That’s not the case, SAFCBlog has applied for the recently advertised role of Head Scientific Data Analysist at SAFC. I’m told the club has to acknowledge all applications, although this wisdom came courtesy of a man I occasionally see when I’m walking the dogs in Valley Gardens, his name is Ken and he has clip on lenses to turn his prescription glasses into sunglasses, so he may not be connected to the Swiss/French Billionaires who are making the decisions, but Ken says they have to write to me, so until he’s proven wrong I’m onboard with his self portrayed wisdom…..Kenneth the hour!

Pre Teamsheet Teamsheet Thoughts…

A few key decisions for Lee, Winchester for Leadbitter looks fairly straightforward. We have a problem at LB, we have 3 options, 1 of them is injured and the other 2 have looked shaky. Whilst his goal stood out, Maguire’s overall contribution from the bench has been excellent the last two games – Can he drop McGeady? Charlie is better playing off O’Brien? I wouldn’t normally advocate playing McGeady and Maguire, but if you are ever going to, a home game against a shit team is the time? Jones has also impressed from the bench, although I think he will remain there tonight. It’s actually quite nice for a selection headache to revolve around too much attacking quality, rather than the G Farce scenario of who’s the least crap?

Actual Teamsheet Teamsheet Thoughts…

Plenty enough there to smash these lower league Wiltshire Jobbers

7pm …. GAME ON

17 minutes……

Nowt happened so far….

35 minutes….. “It’s a funny old game”…. desperately sad to hear of the passing of Ian St John today, I’m too young to have seen him as a player, but Saint and Greavsie was huge for me growing up, it was like Football Focus, (but not shit), it probably paved the way for Fantasy Football, Soccer AM, 606, Hawksbee & Jacobs, Podcasts, Blogs etc…. we all love football, if we can have a laugh along the way, it’s even better. Sad News.

Shite game thus far, it’s easy to get wrapped up in us winning a few games – but we are average, (at best), in a shite, (at best), league, (could be enough?), but this is not a great watch.

Half Time…. 0-0…. loads of possession, not much quality. Ditto last Tuesdays game, just get it won and move on. Don’t wait to bring Maguire on for Jones, make the change at half time

60 minutes…. 0-0…. I’m still awake, if I was in the ground I’d be considering my early exit – watching on TV complicates this, I’m not about to switch of the stream – but if I did, am I then obliged to reverse the process and leave the house and not return til the game has finished? No idea….. let’s just score a goal and put these Wiltshire Jobbers to bed!

62 minutes… Maguire is on – perfect stage for him – over to you Chris….. goals make points… points make prizes, it will be easier to win tonight than it will be at Hull or Portsmouth?

69 minutes…..Wyke⚽️ 1-0

no words needed…… just pictures

80 minutes …. been much better 2nd half. Just as important as Wyke’s goal was the bravery of Burge shortly after, he’s done really well of late – he could have crumbled post MK, he hasn’t, credit where it’s due. In a similar vein, I’ve been critical of Max Power, but he was decent tonight. As aforementioned, winning this type of game takes the pressure of harder games.

Maguire has to start ahead of Jones on Saturday.

90 minutes…. 4 added minutes, let’s just get this done Lads

SAFCBlog Corner Coefficient Scientific Graph Club

Full Time….. 1-0 …. JOB DONE…. just, they hit the bar on 94 minutes…
