The Season is Virtually Over

Virtual League 1 Final Standings

The season is virtually over

These remain totally unprecedented times, I just don’t see a way that this season can played to a conclusion?

Whilst it would be fair and proper to complete the season, I just cannot see it. How can the nation be told, (rightly), to socially distance whilst football players are competing in a contact sport?  Can that realistically happen?

We’ve been told to expect there to be no large gatherings for months – behind closed doors or not, football matches taking place will lead to large gatherings in one way or another! They shouldn’t but they will! Even staging a behind closed doors televised game, involves circa 400 people.

Football is consumed in England like nowhere else in the world, even in Germany, Italy and Spain, the culture is miles away from how we gather for and consume football. The people of Leeds and Liverpool deserve to celebrate – but we surely can’t effectively sanction the associated celebratory gatherings?

The arguments FOR centre around it being Unfair; it is unfair on Leeds, Coventry, Jordan Henderson – totally unfair.

The other basis of the argument FOR is centred around finances. The nation is in the grips of a killer disease, for which there is no vaccine – the term Corporate Manslaughter, is strong, but can we seriously say that playing football won’t put lives at risk? It’s unfair 100%, as is any of the associated impact of this horrendous Pandemic.

Game of Opinions as always…. but for me….. VOID… START IN AUGUST…. FANS BACK ABOUT CHRISTMAS…. IT’S SHIT…. IT’S UNFAIR….. BUT IT’S FOR THE BEST.

“JUST STAY IN THE FOOKIN HOOOSE”

All Roads Don’t Lead to Rotherham……

I never thought I’d see the day when I was craving a trip to South Yorkshire?

The moment the fixtures came out, it looked like a great away day. It’s completely irrelevant now,  but Rotherham were due to only give us 1’150 tickets, (rather than 2’800) – that job lot of flares someone got Christmas probably the deciding factor?

If the game had meaning, we’d have thousands there – home seats, corporate, watching in town pubs etc

“Pyro …. No Party”

12.30pm kick off

At least it’s only down the road, trips to South Yorkshire are normally preceded by a load of ale in Wetherby – so slight change of plan. Big Breakfast somewhere and back to Wetherby for the Early Evening Session.

Rotherham United FC…..

Sunderland 1 rotherham united 1, match report. They’ve had a brilliant season, when I did my predictions pre season, I had them down for a 12th place finish.

It’s ages since they came to the SOL, (September), Jack Ross was still in charge so it finished 1-1. Although they didn’t look very good and if McGeady hadn’t got tired in his run up to his scuffed penalty, we’d have gone on to win?

Love September
1 - 0 Sunderland
32 seconds on the clock 1-0, we’ll smash these…..
The guy on the left edge of the box found a yard of space ………
Weak as piss…….

What to Wear…….

“Happy with either”

Football is a great game, it’s played over 90 minutes, whereas going to the game is about so much more than the 90 minutes, seeing pals, drinking, eating, visiting new places, what to wear etc.

As always SAFCBlog has researched our, (virtual), opponents. Rotherham used to be famous for making coal, now it’s famous for grooming. As aforementioned SAFCBlog takes pride in its appearance, it’ll be interesting to see how well presented the locals look? We were told to expect the same of Rochdale, but none of the locals looked particularly smart?
