The Match….

Decent game to be fair, we were the better team for 30 minutes, thereafter we weren’t and the best team of both the final and the tournament overall prevailed. Italy were never going to be as bad 2nd half as they’d been in the first half an hour. Losing a final at Wembley is shite, losing a final at Wembley on penalties is more shite, lots said about the choice of penalty takers, realistically they are all capable of slotting it home and in such a situation they are all capable of missing? When Real Madrid lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League Semi Final in 2012, Ramos, Ronaldo and Kaka missed for Madrid…. It happens. If the young lads slot their pens last night it’s a master stroke and they are fearless…. they miss and it’s a wrong call and they are inexperienced…..no one should ever be criticised for missing a penalty, (apart from that knob at Fulham who stole the ball the other season). Well played lads, a semi and then a final, the fruits of the restructure and the St Georges Park project and having a young gaffer on a long term basis are hugely promising….. onwards and upwards🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿. Whilst it’s abhorrent that the World Cup is being allowed to go ahead in Qatar, can we win it? Whilst we might not, we have a realistic chance and that’s a decent entry point.

Football is a lovely game, football fans are mostly mint people – realistically, whilst a final can unite a nation, it also brings out folk who disgrace themselves, the stag do, New Years Eve set, won’t be throwing beer around on Wembley Way when we play Andorra in September? No excuses, but the thirst for 24 hour news and a story only fuels the fire…..

Social Media……

Loads of positives associated with Social Media and realistically it looks like the www etc is going to catch on? Sadly it has also given a platform to knobbers who used to write in green crayon. Abuse of any sort is abhorrent, abuse based on gender, colour, sexual orientation, class, religion etc is equally piss poor and lacks intelligence and class. Whilst we shouldn’t give up on educating the perpetrators, sadly Social Media is a real firepit? As Billy Joel, (effectively a poor mans Joe Longthorne for those who haven’t heard of him), famously sung…..”I cannot be held responsible for the commencement of the combustion 🔥”. There’ll always be knobbers – realistically a finite amount of negatively, often gets far more attention than a wealth of positivity. I’m proud of how England performed🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿
