Ipswich 1 vs SAFC 1

We’re not going to win every game, if you’re not going to win, not getting beat is a positive. At half time yesterday it looked for all the world that we would get comfortably beaten, we could of course have won the game – but a point is certainly not the end of the world, not least because it keeps the momentum going into the hectic, (favourable looking), week of Christmas fixtures.

Getting There…..

Which ever way you look at it, it’s just a long way.

My turn to drive, whilst it’s a long way it’s actually not a bad journey, I always group it with Norwich, but at least the roads to Ipswich as designed for cars rather than farm vehicles? Regular SAFCBlog Photographer not in attendance today, which opened the door for someone else to shine………..

David Bailey must be shitting himself?

“Prioritise things that matter……”

Saw loads of mates yesterday, had a laugh, contributed plenty to the economy etc etc, I could go on but who am I to say that football matters? This weekend last year we played behind closed doors, I took this photo at 2pm yesterday, look at the range of ages, people etc….. it matters, it really does…..

FIRST HALF…..

One week we should just have a shot whilst the other team are knelt down? Live on SKY at Arsenal on Tuesday night, be interesting to see if Sky gloss over it?
  • Completely over ran first 15
  • They miss a sitter
  • Don’t get any foothold in the game
  • Red card challenge on German Croatian doesn’t even see a yellow
  • They score during the 7 added minutes
  • I’ll be honest, this had the feeling of the 0-3 at Sheffield Wednesday?
Pretty sure the same thing happened last season when Willis got injured, but there must be a reason why Ipswich have a golf buggy rather than a stretcher? Whilst all clubs have bellend supporters, special mention to the Ipswich fans who saw it appropriate to boo a young lad off after he’d been treated for 5 minutes following a cowardly challenge, (and it wasn’t just a few boos, lack of class)

SECOND HALF….

  • Huge improvement from the off
  • Sublime nutmeg and perfectly weighed ball from Dan Neil to Broadhead to slot home
  • Better team
  • Stewart should have scored 1 on 1, (decent save though)
  • Looked like we’d nick it, but it just didn’t fall for us
  • I’ve been critical of Lee Johnson, to be fair the team did something yesterday that they never seem to do…. They came out after a poor first half and completely upped their game – credit to the players and management for this

PORTMAN ROAD…..

More often than not clubs aren’t still at their original grounds, Portman Road has an old school feel and it’s great to go to a ground in town rather than on a retail park, I appreciate we were in the oldest stand, but what a shit hole?

AWAY THE LADS…..

Great day yesterday, aside from a lunchtime kick off at Wycombe, we’ve got loads of Northern aways in the next 6 weeks, Bolton, Accrington, Wigan, Lincoln….. I really hope we aren’t deprived from doing what matters over the next few weeks.

Happy Christmas…… Next Year Is Ours⚽️🔴⚪️⚽️“
