We got to the playoffs and we failed, which ultimately means the season was another failure. Ordinarily the playoffs are an Emotional Rollercoaster, this season they were more akin to a Souless Dodgem Ride, there were lots of factors that contributed to this…. whether it was low expectations, lockdown fatigue, lack of belief, being a bit shit at football…. it matters not, the disappointment this time was light years away from precious failed playoff campaigns. That’s not to say I wouldn’t have been as giddy as a kipper if we’d succeeded, but we didn’t and realistically didn’t really look like we would, or deserve to achieve such success.
High Hopes Hotspurs 0 vs Low Expectations Locomotive 1, (Grigg, OG, 19)
As aforementioned, it was a funny old playoff campaign, Blackpool went in as favourites and deservedly went up, they beat Oxford easily and then deserved to win at Wembley, it’s not often the favourites prevail, but they were definitely the best Division 3 team this calendar year, (albeit a low bar).
Blogging a Dead Horse?
Obviously I’d have liked to have got promoted, we didn’t – part of me actually thinks it may be a blessing? Regardless of the league we play in next year, the expectation would be promotion, this expectation is realistic in Division 3, much less so in the Championship. There will be loads of changes over the summer, there’s talk of the league being strong…. Ipswich and Portsmouth have appointed well, the other Big team Sheffield Weds, look a bit of a Basket Case to me. The aim and the expectation will, (as it should be), to win the league.
65 Sleeps….. We go again….
Less than that til pre season, there’s a bit of Euro Footie this month and there’s bound to be some cricket on at some stage? It’s probably in everyone’s best interests that I won’t write this shite daily for the next 9 weeks….. but it won’t be long til we are bang back at it⚽️🔴⚪️⚫️
SAFCBlog…… Fucking right back on it, before you can say, “Griggs missed from a yard….”
