Great performance last night, a comfortable win that sees us keep up our momentum, nothing is decided yet, far from it – but we are playing well, we are winning games, we have key players back from injury soon. I’m always a half full guy, but we really do look the real deal.
Let’s not get carried away…
“let’s take one game at a time, there’s some good teams in this division, there’s no easy games etc etc” – FUCK THAT I’M GETTING CARRIED AWAY, COMPLETELY CARRIED AWAY – why wouldn’t I?
Back To The Future…
Assuming we go up this season, I’m pretty sure with the right recruitment we will win the Championship next year, it may take a few years to win the Premiership and compete in the Champions League, but it’s very much on. Multi Billionaires buying ailing giants playing in the 3rd tier has form – we are basically on the same path that Man City have followed.
Saturday 19th December 1999…
Man City lose 2-1 at York, it’s oft referred to as their low point, Man City sold out as they always do, their allocation was about 2300, add a few hundred in the home seats and that’s 2500. It’s become a bit of a Woodstock, Spike Island or when Leeds ran around the beach in Bournemouth moment…. if you believed everyone City had 30’000 there that day.
Time Machine Time…
What’s this got to do with Sunderland?
Well here’s the thing – we have a huge fanbase, I’m in a position, location and stage of life to be able to go to all the games, that’s not always been the case. I hate the idea of fans being bigger fans than others, we’re all in it together – there’s so much more to life than football – when I had young kids and a proper job, life was different. If you support Sunderland you’re on the same page as thousands of others. Since we choose to have a break from Premiership football it’s been a tough watch following Sunderland. The Championship season was catastrophic, we’ve not actually lost that many games in Division 3, (19 out of 115), we’ve not really been any better, it’s just reflective of the standard of the league.
My preferred method of displaying Scientific Data is in the form of Graphs, SAFCBlog had an email this morning from Miss Tess Tickle of Bermondsey asking if I could incorporate percentage figures into the process…
Always keen to avoid any tenuous links or irrelevances in my writing, let’s get on with it. Given we are on the verge of European Domination, what will be our Man City at York moment, when the whole of Sunderland was there and tells the tale for decades to come. The Championship season has some genuine contenders….
As aforementioned League 1 has been mostly average, my personal low and my suggestion for our Man City at York Moment is Scunthorpe away in the Tinpot Cup. I enjoy night games and I had a tremendous kebab, but losing heavily to Scunthorpe has to be our low point? Game of opinions as always…..
