SAFCBlog Sunday SPZL…. It’s all gone a bit wrong?

From the turn of the year to here…..

We cruised to victory at Doncaster and then hammered Sheff Weds 5-0, our first game of 2022 was at Wycombe, we should have won the game, but a point was ok, we were on a roll…..

Looking good……

This is an incredible collapse, the real worry is we’ve not deserved any more than 5 points from our last 8 games, if Portsmouth had a striker we wouldn’t have beaten them, even more worrying is it’s really hard to see a way out of it?

Our next few fixtures look tough, although just L1 tough, as although we play some of the better sides, they are still crap.

Yesterday…..

I’ve not, (to date), been the manager of a professional football team, I’d go so far to say that i don’t have the required skills set to accept such a role, (if it was offered), but as fans we obviously have opinions and ideas…….

  • our success in the 1st half of the season was based on playing 5 at the back, (we look more solid with 3 centre halves)
  • we haven’t played 5 at the back since the turn of the year
  • we sold a centre half who had played 30+ games this season for £125’000 on deadline day, meaning we now don’t have 3 fit centre halves to play the aforementioned formula
  • we look so flat with a back 4
  • it was obvious from about the 3rd minute yesterday that their number 10 would score and probably from a 1 v 1? Whilst they didn’t score in the 1st half, they got behind us 3 times in the opening 20 minutes
  • I’ve not seen the goals on tv, the 1st may have been after a foul, the second came after a sloppy pass, but both incidents were in our half and both led to them having 2 v 1, we never ever looked like getting behind them all afternoon
  • some of the young lads look absolutely knackered, I don’t know the quality of the available free agents, but the squad looks desperately in need of a boost

Onto Tuesday……

  • we just need a positive performance
  • we don’t have loads of options, but Clarke has to start ahead of Dajaku, primarily because he’s better at football, but also as it will facilitate Pritchard to play in the middle which is a must

Match preview tomorrow, (probably)….. SAFCBlog is actually missing the game on Tuesday – although fear not, I’ve sourced a Guest Blogger, (also owns a camera phone and pens), so all bases covered ⚽️🔴⚪️⚽️

I’m under no illusions as to the weakness of the relationship between us and worldbeaters…. but it would be tickety fucking boo to just not be so fucking shite come what Tuesday evening?
