Sunderland 2 vs Plymouth 1 – A Brief Report…

An important game today, also a tough game, it’s no secret I’m mostly unconvinced about the manager, but come 5pm at Portman Road next Saturday, if we are well placed credit must be given where it’s due. Brief report of the game as a bit pushed for time, although there’s every chance I will pen some more on the game tomorrow.

Another Wet Wearside Day….

We won well on Tuesday, it was always going to be tougher today.

FIRST HALF…..

  • Start on the front foot, fantastically worked goal from a corner, 1-0⚽️
  • Great finish from the ever improving Broadhead, 2-0⚽️⚽️
Superb finish
  • A hugely impressive first half, yes we went a bit flat for the last 10 minutes or so, but that’s always going to happen, and better to have a slow patch at 2-0 than 0-0. A really pleasing first 45 minutes.

SECOND HALF….

  • Plymouth we’re always likely to offer more
  • Stating the obvious, but the next goal at 2-0 is huge, (either game over or a huge momentum shift).
  • 1-2⚽️ Soft goal to concede, on balance the German is better than Burge, but he doesn’t boss his 6 yard box, as I say a soft goal, but he’s a young lad and is improving.
  • Bit nervy towards the end, but we deserved to win the game.
  • Decent atmosphere, mostly due to the fans responding to a good performance- but the ref losing control of the game always adds to the atmosphere in the stadium.

OVERALL….

  • Good game, good win and 2 really good goals
  • Like most teams we have a growing injury list, but we do have some real quality in the squad. Lots of positive performances today, Pritchard, Doyle, Broadhead and Neil were all exceptionall today. I might have said a few weeks ago that Dajuku was shite and that I was better than him? He’s not and I’m not, he followed up a good showing on Tuesday with another good performance today
  • I felt we looked tired and should have used some subs in the last quarter of the game. But, we won the game against a strong side, well done lads and well done LJ
  • After a poor run the players and manager were rightly criticised, credit where it’s due – they have bounced back really well
  • Onwards and Upwards….. ALL ROADS LEAD TO IPSWICH 🔴⚪️⚽️
