Up Next – MK Dons Previewed….

We return to League 1 action on Saturday when we entertain MK Dons. The table doesn’t really matter at this stage, but with Lincoln and Charlton not having a game, we could end the day ‘languishing’ a few places higher. Consecutive defeats in the cup games not ideal, but the league is all that matters really, whilst the Mansfield game was a bit of a disaster, there were plenty of positives to take from the Fleetwood game.

Head to Head…..

Since we decided to drop down a couple of divisions, we regularly play teams that we’ve not really got any history with. Obviously MK Dons are new to football, we’ve only met 4 times and we’ve won all 4

September 2012…… 2-0

August 2013……. 4-2….Dare to Dream

September 2019….. L1….. 2-1

Days after his worldie at Sheff Utd, Power did it again…… seems a while ago now?

“I know it’s only January, but……. I’ve just got a feeling that 2020 is going to be a year to remember?……”

Played for both…….

As you’d expect there’s not loads of links between the 2 clubs. Tom Flanagan played 45 times for them, there was also a spell where MK was akin to retirement home for our ailing stars, Michael Bridges, Alex Rae, Tore Andre Flo and Paul Butler amassed 39 appearances for the Dons between the 4 of them.

Will Grigg had a successful spell there, scoring an impressive 22 goals in 50 appearances….

“Will Grigg celebrates scoring a brace to knock Man Utd out of the cup……. I wouldn’t trust him to bag a brace of pheasants from the farm shop”

Historically speaking…….

AFC Wimbledon fans hate them due to a well published situation. Food chain and all that, but AFC Wimbledon subsequently used Kingstonian as collateral? They bought Kingstonians ground as they needed a medium term home, whilst Kingstonian remained as tenants for a while, they no longer play at their home, with AFC selling it to Chelsea for their Ladies and Academy teams to play there.

“Public Enemy – Don’s Believe the Hype?”

Current Form…….

“Current form = Shite”

“On the leeds side-streets that you slip down, The provincial towns that you jog ‘round”

No one ever wrote a song about Milton Keynes? Thankfully the town has given us weather girl Clare Nasir…..

A game of two halves…..

When we won down there in January, we flew out of the traps after half time. In the last 3 games we’ve emerged for the 2nd half sluggish. It’s hugely important we emerge positive on Saturday, we cannot afford to be careless against the Dons….

No excuses lads – get right into them after half time⚽️
