Good Friday – Oxford United in Preview

Hard to believe this was last season? 3 managers and a Pandemic later we welcome Oxford once again.

Head to Head….

Since we decided to play in division 3 we normally draw 1-1 with them, whilst one of these draws ended in a penalty shootout defeat, 4 of our 6 meetings have finished 1-1. We won the other 2 games to nil, so the omens are pretty good.

Last time…

We won fairly comfortably at their gaff, although they were worse then than they are now. Last time we were allowed to attend we also won on a very wet day

Admittedly not the best view of the match, but dry

Are They Any Good?

Like much of this league, they are totally unpredictable, they beat a strong Lincoln team last weekend and are on the fringes of the play offs, whilst this suggests a tough game, they lost to Northampton, (who are terrible), last Tuesday – so who knows? They are managed by Karl Robinson, who has built a reasonable reputation as a lower league gaffer, but it has the feel of Jackett at Pompey, in that he can’t be far off feeling the pressure, as they seem to just fall short each season? The main danger seems to come from striker Matty Taylor who scored 17 goals last, (shortened), season and has 14 so far this term.

Oxford The City…

It’s quite a nice place to have a few beers, like Sunderland it’s also famous for its University,
