Sofa So Good, Good Performance makes it a Good Good Friday

Huge weekend, it would be brilliant to be going to the game today, excitement is high, momentum is on our side, it’s such a shame we can’t go and cheer the Lads on today, the town would be bouncing and I suspect the crowd would be around the 38’000 mark?

Wake up and smell the pies….” it won’t be long now until normal matchday routine is restored to its former glory.
The one man who you want to see on the end of a cross on Good Friday….

Easter is often cited as a key deciding factor in promotion and relegation, this season is a perfect case in point. There are 6 points up for grabs in the next 4 days, the results of these 2 games will go a long way to deciding which division we are playing in next season. We have done fantastically well of late, whilst we obviously want to win every game, if we can win today it will mean we go into Mondays game knowing that a draw is a good result. In recent years we’ve failed to do this, we went into the Portsmouth 1-1 and the Coventry 0-1 needing to win, as a result of our inability to win the easier games.

Religion – Not really my bag

Unlike Christmas, (Santa’s birthday), Easter is a different date every year, I’ve never met anyone, (and I know a Vicar), who can explain why this is? If anyone reading this was to get nailed to a cross today and die as a consequence, their date of death would be recorded by the coroner as 02 April, I understand the complication of the Church insisting that the banks are closed and the logistics of Good Friday needing to be a Friday, but sometimes it’s 3 weeks different! Last year he was said to have perished on 10th April, the previous year he survived til 19th April – no wonder people get muddled? Anyway moving on…..

Two years ago we won at Accrington and Rochdale on the 3rd and 6th April, like a few thousand others. I left Rochdale believing we were nailed on for automatic promotion, I wouldn’t say Alison Moyet was in full voice, but she’d had a few pints of Stella and had cleared her throat……6 points this weekend and I reckon the Weather Girls could be doing requests?

Data, Data: High Voltage💥 🧨 📊📈💻📀💾

Over the last few months SAFCBlog has been producing graphs for the club to use, (free of charge), I am of course disappointed to not get the job, although even more disappointed not to have received a reply to my application. Needless to say, SAFCBlog wishes James all the best in his new role, and will do anything to support him in the role, (lend of pens, advice etc)

Basic analysis of the teams last 12 games suggests a 2-1 win for Sunderland…..

Basic Analysis = A 2-1 win

The club are obviously happy with their new stats man, for what it’s worth SAFCblog’s Advanced Data Analysis shows a 3-1 win, as it factors in the fact that we score 2.75 more goals than they do, when this is coordinated with the Basic Data, it changes the score from 2-1 to 3-1, but the club are welcome to use basic data if they prefer.

Advanced Analysis- A 3-1 win

Today’s Line Up…

Plenty good enough.

I’m a little surprised to see O’Brien and Winchester on the bench, but the other way of looking at that is to say how strong our squad is. Beat these Posh Canoe Jobbers today, no bother at all.

3pm LET GET RIGHT INTO THESE……

21 minutes….. bollocks 0-1, great strike, they’ve probably deserved that? Need to wake up!

29 minutes…… our first shot on goal goes out for a throw in

38 minutes…… we’ve done well of late, we’ve been absolutely rubbish today. We need to get in for half time just 1 down and be better 2nd half. O’Brien for Gooch looks a no brainer, Charlie is half the player without O’Brien.

Half time….. we’ve been a bit better last 5 minutes or so, but we’ve been shite. When you’re playing shite, set pieces are huge, ours have been shite. Need to improve 2nd half… We go again at 4.05pm. LIVE EDIT… 1-1 Goooooooch – fucking get in. 45 minute game now.

All about results now – Big 2nd half, forget the first 45 – let’s start again boys⚽️

60 minutes…. much better game 2nd half. They get a red card, so real opportunity here, they’ve not been dirty, but when you get 4 or 5 cheap yellows, a red is always likely? Let’s do this……. HUGE 30 minutes now!

68 minutes….. Jones smashes the bar…. COME ON LADS!!!

80 minutes….. 2-1 – great finish!!! This could be a massive 3 points

93 minutes….. 3-1 GET THE FUCKING TUNES ON MAX
