It’s Almost Saturday, SAFCBlog Matchday Spezial

Will it be a Whigfield Winning Saturday Night, or a Wigan Woe Weekend?

it’s almost Saturday, I’m excited as it’s been ages since we had the opportunity to go to the match, (play off misery aside). Last season we weren’t good enough to go up, we need to improve on last years efforts, I think we will – I’m not sure it’ll be instant, I’m sceptical it’ll be with our current management set up, but we will get there, 100%.

Recruitment…..

Lots has been made of our lack of signings, we remain light as a squad undoubtedly, but Evans and Pritchard look like very good signings at this level. We need a striker, it’s bizarre to think we’ve lost a player who got 31 goals last term for nowt and no one is that arsed? I wasn’t as dismissive or critical of Wyke as many, but ultimately he’s not brilliant is he? Obviously if there was a 31 goal man available on a free, I’d be saying we should sign him …. But last year was just a perfect storm for Wyke, he’s a good honest pro, but he ain’t scoring 20 goals in a season again as long as I’ve got a hole in my arse, (game of opinions as always).

The Contenders…..

Division 3 is shite, last season it was more shite than normal, hence it really did feel like it was an opportunity last term. It’s undoubtedly stronger this time around, (it’s a low bar, all relative etc), but this season has more quality than last season. Rotherham will be strong, Ipswich have recruited well, like us Portsmouth will surely go up eventually? Oxford, Wigan and Charlton will all fancy their chances? There’s always a dark horse, (Gillingham I reckon), Sheff Weds are a big team with a decent gaffer, (although they remind me of us a bit too much…. and I think their misery may just be beginning)

A Numbers Game……

“2 whoppers from the top rack please Carol”

Last season was shite, I really missed going to the games and all that it brings. I covered every game, did a few graphs etc…. But that’s really not the way the beautiful game should be consumed, I’m almost at 500’000 visits to SAFCBlog, I’d always said I’d call it a day at half a million – going to roll with it for a few weeks and see, I quite like the idea of doing a KLF and torching a million quid in a field, loads of fields round here, just not got the million quid!

“You shag 1 sheep…..”

Win on Saturday?

I really hope so, I don’t think we will, but I really hope I’m wrong

Given Wycombe will probably beat Accrington, (currently top of the league after 0 games), Saturday has the feel of a must not lose game?

Tickets Please, Tickets Please

It’s well documented that Social Media is for Cranks, (not all of it), on Twitter the last 2 days, people are genuinely moaning about the fact that their season tickets are arriving in a basic envelope – fucking mental man! Mine haven’t arrived yet, but a basic envelope is fine, yes it would be nice if they came in Posh Box, but realistically unless you’re David Beckham is this really a viable request?

Full(ish) House….

Our stadium is massive, it won’t be full on Saturday …. But there will be loads wanting to go to the match I’ve no experience in Stadium Management Logistics, but FFS, given the new e ticketing, the amount of walk ups etc…. Can the club please have a plan? Hope I’m wrong, but would it really be a surprise if there’s thousands still queuing outside at 3.15pm, as I say hopefully I’m wrong, but hopefully the club have given it the appropriate amount of thought?

Ownership…..

“bollocks……… what’s £11 million minus fuck all?”

We are now in safe hands, it’s not a quick fix, but it will be fixed. Prior to our current responsible custodians, we had a lesser stable situation….. KLD will get this spot on, 100% – it’s not my place to comment on our previous owner, (any comments on here are not necessarily the opinions of SAFCBlog)….. yes Stewart Donald is still here, there’s much frustration as to why he remains in situ- not my opinion, but I have heard it cited that his ongoing presence relates to his debt / liability, rather than his equity…. But what do I know?

You Are What You Wear(side)

Left for me – all day long. Game of opinions- but sometimes more is more

Historically at other clubs, Lee Johnson made an effort with his Matchday attire, during his time at Sunderland he hadn’t made an effort at all, the only time he veered away from clubwear the last few months was at Wembley, he looked shite. It’s a big few months for Lee, yes….. we were spoilt with Jack Ross, but FFS Lee, at least make an effort this season?
