SAFCBlog 1st Eleven Line Up Logistics Monday Klub…

Magic result on Saturday and just a great day, tomorrow we are away at Port Vale – I don’t actually expect LJ to make too many changes. A win on day 1 is huge, realistically this is a shite league…. Win the 1st 3 games and all of a sudden we will just piss it? Lots has been made of our lack of signings, overall we did really well on Saturday…. The 11 who lined up did their job, May as well rate them out of 10….

Lee Burge …. He’s ok, if he was better than ok he’d be in the Championship? If we are devoid of creativity, we need a great keeper… if we score a few goals each game, we don’t need a great keeper, (7/10)

Dan Neil…. They understandably targeted him first half, he’s not a full back, he’s a midfielder with a few appearances, he recovered really well 2nd half, I’m not going to rate him out of 10, because he was out of position and he did as well as he could

Callum Doyle…. Without getting carried away, he was faultless, he’s 17! I guess it’s akin to having Phil Foden on loan 2 seasons ago? (9/10)

Tom Flanagan…. Much maligned, rarely lets us down and does nowt wrong, (8/10)

Carl Winchester…. Out of position, did well, (8/10)

Corry Evans…. Decent debut, potential to be hugely comfortable at this level, (8/10)

Gooch …. Gooch plays well = we play well. For me I’d like to see the ball whipped in with pace after one less turn, rather than floated in on occasions (7.5/10)

Embleton…. Decent, will improve each week, (7.5/10)

O’Nien….. always gives everything, decent players at this level, (7/10)

McGeady….. the usual, does what he does very well, doesn’t do some things, swansong this year – he will have a field day, (7.5/10)

Stewart….. I don’t think a team should play a lone striker at home, that’s not his fault…. Won a penalty, scored the winner, excellent movement, (9/10 & SAFCBlog Man of the Match)

Substitutions….

Wright…. He’s ok

O’Brien ….. Not a great accolade, but his main strength is probably coming on with 15 to go and making a nuisance of himself

Diamond….. thoroughly unconvinced. Needs to untuck his shirt

Gaffer….. well done, I didn’t think we’d win, we did win and we deserved to. For me, on 75 minutes it looked easier to defend 2-1 by going 3-1 up as opposed to trying to avoid 2-2? But what do I know?

ALL ROADS LEAD TO VALE PARK…..

Don’t expect a load of changes tomorrow, if Grigg has any type of future, you’d have to think he’ll be in the starting line up?

Win tomorrow no bother, might see you there
