Sunderland’s last 6 games

After playing over 2 hours in a cup final 11 days ago – we’ve since played another 3 games, (including one on wet mud at Accrington) – no wonder the players looked a little jaded last night?

6 to go and we are in an automatic slot – a draw last night was not the end of the world, (Burton no mugs – as I’m sure they’ll show when they play Luton and Pompey this month?).

wanted to win – didn’t lose

I hope and expect we’ll get over the line. If, as and when we do – it should be celebrated, as it would be a fantastic achievement.

There’s been a bit of culture this year, (especially at the SOL), of “we should be beating teams like this”, “we’ve got the best squad” etc

But……

We came rock bottom of the Championship
We have had a complete overhaul from top to bottom – on and off the pitch
Hastily assembled squad
We’ve been an absolute shitstorm of a club for 4 years or so
We are everyone’s cup final
Yes – we are “too big” to be in this league – but so were Forest, Sheff Weds, Leeds, Sheff Utd, Wolves etc and they all took longer than a season to escape

So……

If we go up; let’s celebrate a job well done
The remaining 3 home games will see sell out away ends – we need to get right behind the lads
Anyone lucky enough to be at Bradford, Wycombe, Rochdale, Doncaster, Blackpool, Accrington will know by the reaction of the players at the end, that they really do give a shit. The connection with the fans is back.
