It’s been pretty tough going the last few months watching Sunderland, for lots of reasons today felt like a very big game. We needed a boost, some positivity, a performance, some hope, some excitement etc…. Steady drive down, to a ground miles away from Doncaster.

So many positives….. Gooch was brilliant, Wyke put in a wonderful shift, Dobson loads more effective than Leadbitter
Our only bad spell in the game was the last 15 minutes of the 1st half, when we were sloppy and let them into the game
Ultimately we earned a well deserved win

Shortest match review for ages, but SAFCBlog was keen to get it done tonight and is even more keen to stuck into some celebratory drinks ASAP. Normal service will be resumed for Fleetwood on Wednesday. Thoughts on today?…… we were fully committed, we played well, the fans were absolute class, the players really looked like they care, lots been said about the manager – but every single player embraced him at the end, there’s no way on earth that the dressing room isn’t right behind him. Best of – football did what it does best….. it excited me and I had a great day with some great mates – yes Boxing Day was absolutely shit, but today was absolutely brilliant. It’s in the past now and we go again on Wednesday. Of course there’s loads wrong with the club, we all know that, today’s win might not suit the morbid fascination of many, (I’ve had less messages today than I have on a matchday for months). Stewart Donald is the current custodian of the club, but it’s OURS not his and today was great day out. I don’t know, but I’d wage a bet there’s part of him that is a bit miffed that he wasn’t the centre of attention today after all. Great day….. off to celebrate now.
